Marks and Spencer and Oxfam launch online Shwop shop

Marks and Spencer and Oxfam have launched a temporary online Shwop shop selling fashion pieces that used to belong to celebrities including Stella Tennant and Lisa Snowdon.

The temporary online shop features more than 200 pieces, featuring the best items the public have donated to Marks and Spencer’s Shwopping campaign, as well as more than 100 items of clothing and accessories donated by celebrities to raise funds for the charity.

Items include a Chanel skirt suit donated by Stella Tennant that will cost you 1,800 pounds, or a black Alexander McQueen tuxedo jacket as worn by Felicity Kendal, or a black DKNY silk dress donated by Lisa Snowdon.

Other celebrities taking part includes Millie Mackintosh, Melvin Odoom, Olivia Wayne, and Tulisa.

All money raised will go to support Oxfam initiatives to fight global poverty. Since the 2012 launch of Shwopping, which allows shoppers to donate or ‘shwop’ an unwanted item of clothing that will go on to be re-sold in Oxfam, re-used or recycled.

“Shwopping has been a huge success and the 25 million items ‘shwopped’ so far, has helped us to raise over 17 million pounds for Oxfam,” said Mike Barry, director of Plan A at Marks and Spencer.
