Matalan to open first Clacton store in November

UK fashion and homeware retailer Matalan is set to open its first store in Clacton this November, expanding its physical presence in Essex.

Located at Brooke Retail Park, the new 30,000 square foot retail location will showcase the brand’s complete range across womenswear, menswear, kidswear and homeware. The launch will feature the brand’s autumn/winter 2026 (AW26) collection, which focuses on fabric, fit, quality and design details while maintaining value pricing.

Expansion across UK store estate

The development was delivered through a collaboration between Tendring District Council, Britton Construction Ltd and Matalan. The Clacton branch forms part of several new store openings planned by the retailer before the end of the year as it continues investing in its retail estate.

The interior layout features a modern design concept with updated visual merchandising and navigation to streamline the shopping experience.

“We’re really looking forward to opening our doors in Clacton for the first time this autumn,” said Annette Ormandy, store manager at Matalan Clacton. “A huge amount of work is going into getting the store ready, and we can’t wait for local customers to see it.”

Matalan has hired over 30 employees from the local area to staff the new site.
