Mytheresa.com uses stylist service to kickstart Instagram sales

Luxury online retailer Mytheresa.com has launched a new microsite which lets its users shop the looks shown on its main Instagram account, @mytheresaprgirl.

The new site, found at insta-shop-mytheresa.com, lets users click on the images shown on the Munich-based retailers Instagram and then directs them to the appropiate product page on the Mytheresa.com website. "We always try to interact with our Instagram followers," said Jens Riewenherm, managing director of Mytheresa.com, to WWD. "From now on followers can easily pick their favorite style from a post and purchase them literally from the image without having to look for it through long product lists."

In order to let users know which posts are shoppable Mytheresa.com will use hashtag #buytheresa on Instagram. In order to promote and boost its sales through the new microsite, the luxury e-tailer is set to launch another platform on the social media site which offers personal stylist services. Launching August 31, at @myt_stylsit, the account will allow users the freedom to share an outfit of their choice from Mytheresa.com and share it with their followers before purchasing it.

Mytheresa.com is the lastest retailer to launch a store on Instagram using external software, following the likes of Michael Kors and Topshop.
