Fashion and homewares retailer Next has been confirmed as the third anchor store within the 150 million pound leisure and entertainment complex Resorts World Birmingham.

Next has taken a 10,000 square foot space at the complex’s 50 unit outlet centre and joins other anchor tenants Nike and Gap Outlet who signed up to the Genting UK-owned centre back in December last year.

Due to open this summer, Resorts World Birmingham will feature around 100,000 square foot of retail space within the 450,000 square foot complex, located at the NEC. As well as retail units the complex will also include a 178 room four star boutique hotel, the Genting Hotel, as well as a casino, bars, restaurants, a Cineworld cinema and an IMAX cinema.

Steve Myers, Genting UK’s managing director of development, said: “Next is one of the UK’s most popular and successful retail brands and we welcome them to the Resorts World development as one of the three anchor retail units.

“In addition, having exchanged agreements with both Pizza Express and TGI’s, we have secured two further national operators to the scheme in line with our leasing strategy. We are excited by these additions to the tenant mix, which is crucial to us as owner operators, and will shortly be announcing further high profile operators for the remaining retail and leisure space.”

Resorts World Birmingham has also signed up TGI Friday’s and Pizza Express.
