Budget fashion chain Primark is to open a 39,100 square foot store at Broughton Retail Park in Chester, marking its first new store in the region for five years.
Primark has taken a 15-year lease for the two-floor store, which was the former BHS unit, and will open later this year. The value retailer will offer its complete range of women’s, men’s and children’s clothing, accessories, footwear and homeware.
In addition, the retail park, which is part of the Hercules Unit Trust, the specialist retail park fund advised by British Land and managed by Schroders, has also signed up Marks and Spencer, who will open an 11,000 square foot food store later this year.
They will both complement the existing fashion offering which includes New Look, River Island, Outfit and Next.
The new lettings follow the recent opening of a 13 million pound leisure extension at the park comprising an 11-screen Cineworld IMAX cinema and new restaurants including Frankie & Benny's, Pizza Express, Chiquito, Prezzo and Nando’s.
Colin Gilligan, centre manager for Broughton Shopping Park, said: “Primark’s opening will reinforce Broughton’s reputation as one of the region’s leading shopping destinations for top fashion brands. Primark has an incredible reputation for offering high quality fashion at value-for-money prices and we expect the store to attract a brand new wave of shoppers from across the region.
“The opening will conclude an incredibly successful year for Broughton, after five new restaurant openings, the launch of the first IMAX cinema in the region and a number of new retailers opening at the park for the first time.”
