Burberry is favoring its American consumers with its first collection since Ricardo Tisci took over creative direction. Tisci's debut collection is retailing exclusively through Barneys New York and the brand's New York stores before global consumers can shop the spring 2019 collection later this month.

The collection became available this week at the brand's New York stores at 57th Street and Spring Street, as well as the Barneys locations in New York and Beverly Hills.

Though Burberry is a UK-based brand, its largest single market is in the United States, therefore CEO Marco Gobbetti has been focused on strengthening the brand's wholesale portfolio in the U.S. since 2017.

“Changing the way our customers experience Burberry is a key part of our strategy to transform the brand, and evolving our presence in the U.S. is critical to achieving this,” Gobbetti told WWD.

While Barneys New York is the first American retailer to sell the spring 2019 collection, the brand holds other wholesale accounts with U.S.-based retailers including Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom.
