River Island launches "app experience" for wearables

High street retailer River Island has launched a new app for wearables such as Android Wear and the Apple Wear, making it one of the first mass-market retailers to introduce an app for wearables.

The debut app offers a number of features, such as customised feeds of the latest items and lets users save and view items in their wish list or add them to their shopping bag and seamlessly move to mobile to complete the transaction. In addition, the app lets users check River Island's stock availability in nearby stores, directions to stores in their areas and their opening times, offering users a seamless shopping experience.

"We are delighted to be one of the few retailers leading the way in the wearables market. River Island is always interested in finding new and exciting ways to bring our shopping experience into the lives of our customer," said Helen Colclough, Ecommerce Development Manager, River Island. "The Apple Watch and Android Wear apps will provide our customers with another channel to shop with us conveniently."

In addition, River Island has also updated its Android and iOs apps to offer numerous payment options and well as delivery choices to ensure they are more convenient for the retailers international customers.
