River Island to extend store at The Centre, Livingston

High street fashion retailer River Island is set to expand its store at The Centre, Livingston.

River Island aims to take an additional 3,000 square feet, in a move which will considerably increase the space available to offer its River Island Kids range to customers visiting the shopping centre. "We are very pleased to be expanding our store in The Centre, Livingston, which will allow us to greatly increase the product ranges available to our customers and continue spreading the joy of fashion in Livingston," said John Sigler, Head of Property at River Island in a statement.

In addition to expanding its store at The Centre, River Island has also agreed to extend its lease, signing for another ten years. The fashion retailer is set to open its expanded store in August 2018. "This deal is a positive endorsement of River Island’s trading experience at The Centre, Livingston and this will offer our customers a wider range of River Island fashion and a fuller kids’ offering," added Sharon Bloodworth, Director of Shopping Centre Asset Management for Hines UK, global real estate investment firm and owner of The Centre, Livingston.

River Island's extension in The Centre, one of Scotland's largest covered shopping centres, comes as it undergoes a 1.8 million pounds refurbishment programme, which including new entrance doors, ceilings, LED lighting and new decor. The Centre is currently home to more than 160 retailers, including Primark, Debenhams and Marks & Spencer.
