Royal Mail is to double the compensation it offers for its tracked products from 50 to 100 pounds, as it looks to further its appeal with online retailers and SMEs, as it exceeds the price of the average online shopping basket in 2015, which was 78 pounds.

The increased compensation will apply to customers using Royal Mail Tracked24, Royal Mail Tracked48, Royal Mail Tracked Returns24 and Royal Mail Tracked Return48, and has been increased to provide online retailers with sufficient cover and give customers extra piece of mind.

This is just one of the recent changes Royal Mail has made to its tracked products, recently it also standardised the weight limit on its tracked products, increasing the maximum weight to 20 kilograms and offering later acceptance times of up to midnight at mail centres and regional distribution centres across the UK for the Royal Mail Tracked48 product.

Royal Mail Parcels managing director Nick Landon said: “Our Tracked products are very popular with business customers who want the flexibility to choose a 24 or 48-hour delivery service, together with a collection service and later acceptance times that allow them to meet customer expectations.

“So we are delighted to be increasing the compensation we offer on our suite of Tracked products. We believe this will provide even greater confidence in the products and in our ability to respond to our customers.”
