Silverburn Shopping Centre, situated in Pollok Glasgow, has been named the best destination shopping centre in the UK at the Revo Ace Awards, coming out on top for providing “consistently great customer experience”.

The Hammerson-owned shopping centre, which is home to 120 brands, including department stores, Debenhams and Marks and Spencer, beat off tough competition from Brent Cross and Centre:MK to win the honour.

The Destination category at the Revo Ace Awards covers shopping centres that occupy more than 1 million square foot, have at least two anchor stores, a dwell time of at least four hours, and has a wide catchment area, and Silverburn was praised for its “culture of high performance” by the award judges, as well as how the shopping centre “emphasises easy wayfinding and community pride encouraging customers to return again and again”.

Mark Bourgeois, managing director UK and Ireland, said in a statement: “It’s a real honour to receive this award – the team at Silverburn work tirelessly to deliver a great experience for our customers, and have made the centre into one of the premier retail and leisure destinations in Scotland.

“Across all our flagship destinations, we work hard to provide a really engaging and attractive mix of brands for our customers, whether that’s retail, food and drink, or leisure. But we know that the really best retail destinations offer more than that, and that’s why we’re investing 2 million pounds in our experiential events programme this year, and why at the likes of Silverburn we’ve invested in things like hands-free shopping, click and collect services, and electric car charging points”.

Silverburn opened in 2007 and houses brands including Flannels, Mac, Zara, H&M, Next, Levi’s, Fossil, Schuh, Zara and Kurt Geiger, as well as a 14-screen Cineworld cinema, a PureGym, Pure Spa and a wide selection of restaurants.

Other winners at the Revo Ace Awards included the Serpentine Green Shopping Centre in Peterborough, which was named the best community and top ace shopping centre, while Gunwharf Quays Waterfront Outlet in Portsmouth won best outlet mall, Touchwood in Solihull was crowned the regional shopping centre, and best retail and leisure place was awarded to Fort Kinnaird in Edinburgh.
