The biggest barrier for a consumer purchasing clothing online is the concern “will this fit?” and SizeWhiz is looking to eliminate those fears with the launch of its new online size prediction tool, which replaces size charts seen on most fashion e-tailers with a “consumer-friendly, interactive and intuitive tool”.

SizeWhiz is a start-up with offices based in the UK and Israel and its technology works by asking consumers to enter a few body measurements relevant to the garment being viewed, which then allows it to determine which size is the best match for the customer, whatever the brand.

The SizeWhiz solution is based upon proven mathematical and statistical calculations, and the result of nine years research into size recommendation tools, the brand states, which it claims assists them in suggesting the best fit every time. It asks customers to create a SizeWhiz profile once, which they can then access from all their devices to cut down the stress and confusion of shopping online.

With consumers only have a 33 percent success rate when using size charts to establish their correct size and 40 percent of garments purchased online returned due to poor fit, according to figures released by the start-up, simplifying the decision over which size to select by increasing the customer’s confidence delivers clear benefits both the retailer and customer.

Key benefits to retailers SizeWhiz states includes reducing “clicks to purchase” by automatically displaying the correct size, as well as improving customer confidence in purchase decision and driving a customer to one selection rather than multiple sizes, which they then return. In addition, the start-up also claims that the technology will assist in increasing the likelihood of future purchases.

SizeWhiz launched its online size prediction technology at Pure London.
