Topshop continues EU expansion with standalone store opening in Germany

Following the opening of Topshop first stand alone store in Contential Europe earlier this year, the British high street fashion chain is continuing its expansion push into Europe with the opening of its debut store in Cologne, Germany, early next year.

Clare Drummond, senior international press manager for Topshop, previously explained to FashionUnited UK during the store opening of Topshop's flagship unit in Amsterdam that the trend-led label, owned by fashion company Arcadia Group, had turned its focus from expanding in the US to Europe. "Over the next two years we plan on opening stores in Germany, Belgium and France," noted Drummond. With scouts searching for suitable retail location all over Europe in key-markets, the question was when the right building would become available.

The exact location of the new 1,200 square meter store remains unknown, but the flagship store is set to join Topshop & Topman shop-in-shop locations within department store Karstadt. The group is said to be currently seeking additional store locations in throughout Germany.
