Fashion retailer Uniqlo has closed its global flagship on London’s Oxford Street for renovation, as it looks to extend and offer its customers a “better retail experience.”
The store closed last month and will reopen in the autumn, no exact date has been announced, where it will showcase a new layout, as well as five floors instead of three. In addition, the new look store will feature "high-tech installations and innovative design."
Uniqlo Europe chief executive Berndt Hauptkorn said: "We thank our customers for their support over the years, which has enabled us to refurbish and expand our London Global Flagship Store.
"We are excited to offer our customers a better retail experience, in a larger and more comfortable environment and we look forward to welcoming everyone to our new store later in the year. At the same time, we apologise for the inconvenience that the temporary closing of the store may cause."
In order to make space for the additional two floors, Uniqlo’s head office has moved to Kingsway in London.
The store originally opened in November 2007 and was Uniqlo’s largest in the world. The retailer now boasts 10 stores in the London area.
