7-Eleven is famous for offering a variety of services in Japan, but now they can also add Uniqlo delivery pick-up location to the list of things they do.

This morning, Fast Retailing’s Uniqlo chain said they will be launching a service on February 16 that allows consumers to place orders through Uniqlo’s website and pick up their merchandise at 7-Eleven stores so they don’t have to worry about waiting at home for deliveries.

As the service is in its early stages, it will first be made available at 5700 7-Eleven stores in Tokyo, Kanagawa, Saitma, and Chiba before it makes its way through the rest of Japan.

Uniqlo was perhaps inspired by Jean Paul Gaultier who worked with Seven and i Holdings to design a capsule collection for the company in fall 2015 and spring 2016. While the line is sold at Seven & i’s department store chain, shoppers who prefer to buy online can order it through a new portal and pick up it at certain branches of the convenience store.

This new move is all part of Fast Retailing’s growth strategy. The company has constantly reiterated their goals for trying to making themselves the world’s largest apparel retailer by 2020. Currently, Japan is their largest market where they operate 805 Uniqlo stores.

Despite Japan’s usual tendency to be ahead of the curve on technology, e-commerce hasn’t really taken off in Japan like the rest of the world would expect. However, consumers are slowly turning to the internet to do more of their shopping.
