British fashion designer Vivienne Westwood is set to open her third US retail flagship in New York this autumn, after acquiring a six-story French Beaux Arts townhouse located at 14 East 55th Street.
The store will span across three floors of the townhouse and will house ready-to-wear looks from its Gold Label, Red Label, Anglomania and Man, as well as pieces from the designer’s accessory and bridal lines and eveningwear from its Gold Label Capsule.
The remaining floors in the 15,000 square foot flagship will be occupied by the designer’s administrative offices and showroom. The store will be neighbours with the likes of Escada, Polo Ralph Lauren, Chanel, Burberry, Louis Vuitton and Christian Dior.
“New York is an important step for us as a company, so we had to find a location which best represents our brand,” Cristiano Minchio, chief executive officer of the company’s America business told WWD. “As soon as we opened the Los Angeles flagship, we started looking at different areas in New York and found a great building with lots of history, which was once part of the St. Regis Hotel.”
The New York flagship will be Vivienne Westwood’s third store in America joining Los Angeles and Honolulu.
