Asda buying manager moves to Primark

In a week rife with new appointments, Primark has announced it has hired former George at Asda menswear

buying manager Steve Coates.

Coates is expected to start his role in August, as the company focuses on its expansion as was announced earlier this week, as well as its fashion offering in the UK.

Drapers reported Coates’ departure was not linked to Asda's restructuring announcement from last week. The company stated 4,100 jobs were put into consultation, including a number at George, as it seeks to make 1 billion “efficiency savings” over the next five years.
