Lifestyle trade show Top Drawer has announced the launch of Play, a design-led kids edit, featuring fashion, accessories, toys and home decor to reflect the “dynamism, growth and diversity” of the children’s sector.

Billed as the ultimate international showcase of carefully curated lifestyle brands and design-led products, Top Drawer will add the children’s area, Play at its September show, with organisers saying in a statement that it is in respond to “changes in the retail landscape where creative stockists continue to diversify and broaden their offering”.

Alejandra Campos, event director of Top Drawer, added in a press release: “We’re so excited to present this new concept, Play. It really builds on our strengths, providing a dynamic focal point where an expert mix of the best brands in the sector will meet the best mix of retailers.

“Buyers love Top Drawer precisely because of the variety of design-led products it presents across a range of complementary categories: one destination, multiple buying opportunities. And Play will showcase the UK’s largest collection of design-led kids’ toys, gifts, clothing, home decoration and accessories.”

With over 17 percent of the UK’s population (11.4 million) being children aged 0-14 years, organisers are stating that there is an “immediate opportunity” for UK retailers to capitalise on the growing demand for children’s products, and this will be showcased in a “fresh, fun new look and expected selection of the very best kids brands”.

The announcement comes just weeks after Pure London confirmed the launch of Pure Kid for its July edition, where childrenswear brands will sit alongside womenswear brands who already offer kidswear such as Hatley, 4Funky Flavours, Dekoz and Sugarhill Brighton, and the closure of kids trade show, Bubble London, which had been running for 10 years.

Top Drawer will take place from September 9-11 at Olympia in London.
