Almost 75 percent of the second Disney x Cath Kidston collection featuring Mickey and Minnie Mouse sold out within hours online.

The collection, which was highly anticipated after the success of the Winnie-the-Pooh range earlier this year, found items including a number of the bags, phone cases and kidswear pieces selling out on first day of the launch.

The launch of the collection led to record traffic on the Cath Kidston website and marked the biggest ever day and week in terms of sales on cathkidston.com. With the first item to sell out in a record of 21 minutes was the Minnie and Mickey Spot Mini Satchel, while the retailer sold more than 70 Mickey and Minnie Button Spot mugs every minute.

Cath Kidston’s group marketing director, Sue Chidler, said: “After the success of the Winnie the Pooh Collection, we thought the Mickey and Minnie range would be popular. However, nothing prepared us for just how fast the range would sell.

“We bought more stock this time to ensure that customers wouldn’t miss out but even with this increase, almost three quarters of the collection had completely sold out online by lunchtime on Saturday. We are now so excited about the next collection in the Disney x Cath Kidston partnership and the characters for this which will be announced in 2017.”

The Disney x Cath Kidston Mickey Mouse collection launched on Friday, December 2 during a launch party at the Cath Kidston Piccadilly Flagship store before landed in selected stores on December 3.

The Disney and Cath Kidston collaboration is set to continue in 2017 with the next character set to be announced next year.
