The coated canvas used by Karine Augis is a flexible and resistant material. It blends perfectly with leather and is an ideal medium for expressing patterns. It was in the 19th century that coated canvas made its appearance and was used in luggage, particularly by French luxury brands, to create pieces that combine know-how and modernity. Reputed to be waterproof and resistant, coated canvas has become an essential material for leather goods.
French know-how and commitment to sustainable fashion
Karine has always been fond of beautiful materials and pays particular attention to sustainable development. With this in mind, she joined forces with a French company with excellent know-how to create her own raw material: a Premium coated fabric that respects the environment. Thus, the fabric that is found on all Karine's collections, was developed exclusively for the brand and contains no PVC, solvent or phthalate. The first step is to ink the patterns in the mass with a printing technique that requires no water consumption. The coating is then applied to this base giving the material the desired resistance and relief.
A ground for expression and creativity
The advantages of Premium coated canvas are numerous: lightness, resistance, durability and ease of maintenance. In addition, by allowing the printing of exclusive patterns, the canvas becomes an excellent creative material that allows offering a colorful and daring universe, recognizable and specific to the brand.
“Coated canvas and leather are two very distinct materials that history has naturally brought together for their qualities and beauty. I like working with these materials to create timeless, creative pieces that are always in tune with their times” - Karine Augis
