Givenchy announced it is to host its catwalk show in New York during NYFW and will make it a public affair. Art directed both by artistic director Riccardo Tisci and Marina Abramoviç, there will be 800 tickets released online on a first-come, first-served basis to members of the public with a further 280 tickets being made available to students at the city’s fashion schools.

The mostly non-industry, non-celebrity civilians plus fashion students and teachers will make it the most democratic show the brand has ever staged.

The website address will be released Tuesday September 1 at 10am via the social media outlets of Givenchy, NYCgo, the CFDA and KCD, and will open to potential recipients at 10am on September 2.

“The fascination for the house with the American market has always been there,” said Givenchy chief executive officer Philippe Fortunato, in New York last week in advance of the opening of the new Givenchy flagship store on Madison Avenue.

“The US gives me so much energy, and I’m very inspired by the culture,” Tisci told WWD in late June, discussing the decision to show in New York.
