London - Change is always a foot in the fashion industry, but New York Fashion Week seems to be making something of a habit out of swapping venues as the bi-annual event is set move location once more.

As of next season, New York Fashion Week new hub will relocate further downtown to Skylight Clarkson Square at 550 Washington Street, reports WWD. Does the location name ring a bell? It should, as for the past three seasons the event's organisers IMG held NYFW at Skylight in Moynihan Station, 360 West 33rd Street. However, as this venue is currently under construction and set to become the new home of Amtrak, IMG thought it was wise to seek out a new homebase.

“Fashion is about evolution and adapting to the needs of your audience. As we strategized about next season, we decided to centralize our efforts at Skylight Clarkson Sq to enhance the experience for our partners, designers and guests,” said Catherine Bennett, senior vice president and managing director, IMG Fashion Events & Properties to WWD.

The new location in West Soho is set to become the main location for New York Fashion Week as well as the home base for NYFW: The Shows. A separate show space, located at Industria 40 Bethune Street, focused at designer presentations rather than shows. However, much like last season a number of designers plan to use a number of off-site locations for their NYFW shows or presentations, including the Pier 59 Studios, Spring Studios, High Line Hotel and Hammerstein Ballroom.

The new venue at Skylight Clarkson Square will offer designers and visitors three different galleries. Gallery 1, a new location for IMG, is set to act as the largest show space with room to hold between 600 and 700 people. Gallery 2, a slightly smaller space can accommodate approximately 500 people and Gallery 3, a new venue, has capacity for 350 people. Industria is the smallest space of the group and has space for roughly 300 people.

New York Fashion Week is set to run from February 9 to 17, 2017.
