German menswear brand Olymp is now using Livinguard Fresh, a textile finishing technology designed to keep shirts, polo shirts and T-shirts fresh for longer. The company, based in Bietigheim-Bissingen near Stuttgart, says the step is part of a wider effort to combine modern menswear with functional properties that offer a practical benefit in everyday wear.

Livinguard Fresh is developed by Livinguard Technologies, a Swiss materials science company headquartered in Pfäffikon. The technology gives the surface of a treated textile a permanent positive charge, which attracts odour molecules electrostatically and neutralises them directly.

The finish is anchored to the fabric during the production process and is designed to have a lasting effect. According to Olymp, the treatment is bonded to the fibre, withstands washing and is reactivated each time the garment is washed.

Officewear for a longer working day

"Modern officewear today has to do far more than just look good. It should adapt to the different situations of a long day while providing comfort and confidence," said Heiko Ihben, managing director for brand, product and human resources at Olymp.

"This is exactly where Livinguard Fresh comes in," Ihben added. "The technology creates an immediately noticeable added value and complements our aim of developing high-performance shirts, polos and T-shirts that meet the demands of a modern and flexible everyday life."

Olymp says the use of the technology underlines its development from a shirt specialist into a brand for the complete modern look. High functionality, comfort and versatile styling options are playing an increasingly important role across its product groups.
