German menswear brand OLYMP has once again been named test winner for the best non-iron shirt. In a test by F.A.Z. Kaufkompass, the consumer testing portal of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, the white OLYMP Luxor business shirt in modern fit achieved the best overall result of all models tested.

According to the testers, the shirt from the company, which is based in Bietigheim-Bissingen in the German state of Baden-Württemberg, performed well in every test category.

Eight white shirts, washed and worn

For the test, F.A.Z. Kaufkompass compared men's shirts from Seidensticker, C&A, Suitsupply, Charles Tyrwhitt, Uniqlo, Alex Vando, J.Ver and OLYMP. All eight were classic white, made predominantly from pure cotton and clearly labelled as non-iron.

Each shirt was washed several times, worn and assessed in detail. Besides how wrinkle-free the shirts remained after washing and drying, the testers paid particular attention to wearing comfort and the quality of the finish.

Finish, comfort and wash performance

The test editorial team's first impression of the OLYMP shirt was positive across the board. Seams, buttons, buttonholes, collar and cuffs were neatly finished, and the pure cotton fabric felt comfortable against the skin. The tester also rated the wearing comfort as clearly positive, even over longer periods of wear.

In the wash test, the shirt kept its shape and bright white colour after ten washes. No other shirt in the test was as crease-free after washing and air-drying.

The editors gave additional credit for the fact that the shirt can be washed at up to 60 degrees Celsius. In their view, this reflects the quality of the material and helps prevent yellowing around the collar and underarms in the long term. The shirt's OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certification was also highlighted favourably.

With around 10,000 products tested each year and a monthly reach of up to five million people, F.A.Z. Kaufkompass is one of the largest consumer portals in Germany.

"For 75 years, OLYMP has stood for uncompromising quality in materials and workmanship, as well as outstanding wearing and care benefits," said Mark Bezner, owner and CEO of OLYMP. "Hence we are delighted to receive this further outstanding endorsement from the F.A.Z. Kaufkompass, following our OLYMP Luxor shirt's emergence as the clear winner in a test by the German news magazine Stern as recently as March 2026."

Care tips for a longer life

OLYMP also shares recommendations on how to reduce creasing and extend the life of its shirts. Before washing or tumble-drying, shirts should be turned inside out and fully buttoned, with the collar and cuffs tucked inside. The brand advises loading no more than six shirts per wash cycle, using the appropriate detergent and programme, setting the water temperature according to the care label and spin-drying at an ideal speed of 400 revolutions.

Once the cycle has finished, shirts should be hung on hangers straight away to dry, with the collar, cuffs and button placket smoothed out. Thanks to the self-smoothing effect, any remaining creases smooth themselves out through body heat and tension while the shirt is being worn.
