Ralph Lauren to receive Outstanding Achievement Award at the Fashion Awards 2016

London - U.S designer Ralph Lauren will be honoured at the 2016 Fashion Awards, as the British Fashion Council reveals he is set to the receive the Outstanding Achievement Award.

Ralph Lauren joins the likes of photographer Bruce Weber in being honoured at The Fashion Awards 2016 for his invaluable contribution to the fashion industry on December 5, at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

The iconic menswear designer is said to have helped “shape and define the American fashion identity” as the brand has grown into a global fashion house. Founded in 1967, a young Ralph Lauren first began his endeavours in fashion with the launch of his tie collection. Five years later he present his full line of Polo by Ralph Lauren menswear line at New York Fashion and launched his womenswear line.

In addition, Ralph Lauren has been credited for numerous cultural moments which have helped shaped the fashion industry, from iconic and cinematic advertising imagery, to the early adoption and integration of technology, and a long-lasting romance with Hollywood’s story-telling and glamour. He is also well known for his many philanthropist causes.

“Ralph Lauren is an exemplary designer and businessman. He has helped to define an era in both American and global fashion with his singular vision; I know that most of us would say he has inspired us immeasurably,” commented Dame Natalie Massenet, Chairman British Fashion Council. “He has built an outstanding legacy and I look forward to celebrating him for years to come.”
