The collaboration by Victoria Beckham and American fast fashion retailer Target has reached a new fever pitch with the confirmation the range will also include plus size categories.

VBxTarget, as the hashtag goes, debuts on April 9th and will be Beckham's first range to go up to size XXXL, or the UK equivalent of size 24. The 200-piece collection is in sharp contrast to her own luxury label, with the most expensive item being just 70 dollars, or 33 British pounds and which caters to a more slimline silhouette.

Featuring women's, children's, toddler and babywear, Beckham said in a statement: “I felt it was the perfect time to extend into a more accessible price point and to celebrate both milestones," which includes her brand and daughter Harper's 5th birthday. “My favorite piece would probably be the calla lily shirt and pants,” Beckham confirmed to Vogue.

The collaborative collection is based on Beckham's younger Victoria, Victoria Beckham line, focussing on 'fashionable, free-spirited and timeless' pieces. These styles are perhaps more commercial for a wider demographic, as Beckham was clever to include a larger size ratio to cater to the plus size market.

The plus size apparel market is worth a staggering 20 billion dollars per year in the US alone, but has long been ignored by luxury designers and catwalk brands.

According to Bloomberg annual U.S. sales of women's plus-size apparel, often defined as a "Misses" size 14 and higher, rose by 17 percent to 20.4 billion dollars in 2016, from 17.4 bn in 2013. During that time, overall apparel sales increased by 7 percent, according to NPD Group.
