London - British menswear style bible GQ have announced the appointment of U2 bass guitarist Adam Clayton as its new arts editor.

Clayton's first column will be printed in the Conde Nast title's May issue, where he explores the impact of the work of Allen Jones.

“I’m thrilled that Adam is joining us. A peerless musician, his passion for contemporary art is equally as engaging. We’re delighted readers of GQ will be able to enjoy his insightful views on what’s most compelling in the world of art today,” commented GQ editor-in-chief Dylan Jones.

“For me music and art are inextricably linked and I don’t think I’m the only one who feels that. I’d love to see contemporary art be as popular and available as pop music,” added Clayton.

As U2’s first manager, U2’s bassist Adam Clayton started collecting contemporary art with his first earnings. His group has released 13 studio albums and sold more than 170 million albums worldwide. He lives in Dublin and has a varied collection with a current interest in post-war Japanese photography.
