Royal Leamington Spa in Warwickshire is to transform a former Ford factory and car park into a retail and shopping mecca.

The plans have been on the table for a number of years, with the town’s council seeking to bring forward a retail-led development in Leamington town centre on the Chandos Street car park.

The19 million pound development will be called The Stove Works Retail Park, a 60,000sq ft space that will transform both locations, which have been disused since 2007.

“This scheme will bring significant improvements to the area and Opus Land are delighted to be developing out this exciting project to improve what has, for a long period of time, been somewhat of an eyesore on one of the main arterial routes into the town,” Opus Land joint managing director Victoria Smith said.

Fund director Lucy Winterburn added: “We are delighted to be working with Opus Land to deliver this much needed scheme in Royal Leamington Spa.

“The scheme will deliver best in class principles of design and use of materials, bringing significant regeneration to the area.”
