New Indian designer fashion site eyes international market

As if with Amazon Fashion, Fashion and You, Myntra and other fashion-focused e-commerce sites, the Indian fashion market was not already well served online, there is a new site on the block since Friday: Indiaspopup.com was launched on July 1, 2016 as India's premier online destination for luxury designer fashion, which includes Indian as well as international designers.

"Here you will find a curation of popular luxury clothing brands, emerging labels and beyond-the-label designer clothing all under one large, virtual roof" is how the founders Archana Yenna and Swetha Reddy describe their site. It combines traditional Indian wear for women like lehengas, anarkalis and saris with modern dresses, gown, jackets, pants, skirts and tops and thus aims to bridge the gap between global luxury fashion and style-oriented Indian shoppers.

Members-only site introduces new shopping concept

With a members-only approach, the well-designed site is by invitation only and thus introduces a new shopping concept to the Indian market. It currently features big designers like Rachel Zoe, Falguni & Shane Peacock, AlpanaNeeraj, Ashima Leena, Gauri & Nainika and others and offers designer clothes, jewelry, shoes and bags as well as bridalwear.

For now, Indiaspopup.com focuses on Indian designers with an international orientation but plans to add other international brands from fashion capitals such as London, Paris, Milan, Tokyo and New York by 2017.

"Ultimately, we want to improve online shopping for people not just in India, but all over the world. We want to spread excitement about 'Modern Indian Fashion' - and inspire our customers to the point that they frequent our website on a daily basis, just to see what's new and what's unfolding in the fashion world. One of our largest interests is to offer and generate feelings of loyalty with our customers. That's what truly makes the shopping experience great", said Dallas, TX-based co-founder Yenna.
