The North Face is the latest brand to take the sustainability concerns of its customers into account. The outdoor apparel retailer is launching a collection of refurbished products made from returned, defective or damaged items, named “The North Face Renewed”. They are inspected, cleaned and revamped to meet the brand’s quality standards before going for sale again. The company said in a statement that it aims to cater for consumers “who want to access affordable gear and reduce their environmental impact”.
”At The North Face, we take a holistic approach to sustainability”, said the brand’s director of sustainability, James Rogers. “As we address the impacts of our products over their entire lifecycle, recommerce is an important next step in opening new markets and minimizing our impact on the planet”.
The collection includes jackets, vests, hoodies, T-shirts and pants for men and women, with prices ranging from 26 US dollars (approximately 20 pounds) to 420 dollars (314 pounds). The refurbished products will only be sold online, as the collection is still in its pilot phase, but the company aims to offer it in brick and mortar stores in the future.
